    The Netherlands-based shipbuilder Kooiman Marine Group is building a new trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) for German Detlef Hegemann Aktiengesellschaft. The 1,500-cubic-meter dredger is designed to execute multiple types of dredging activities at specific locations. Hegemann V is scheduled for delivery in July 2022.

     

  • Conrad Shipyard lays keel for GLDD trailing...

    Morgan City, La., headquartered Conrad Shipyard recently hosted a ceremony at its Deepwater shipyard in Amelia, La., to mark the laying of the keel of a 6,500-cubic-yard trailing suction hopper dredge under construction for Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Company (GLDD). Delivery of the dredge is scheduled before the end of first quarter 2023.

     

  • Port of Baltimore completes dredging for second...

    The Helen Delich Bentley Port of Baltimore completed dredging operations this week to create a second, 50-foot deep container berth at its Seagirt Marine Terminal. The project, accomplished as part of the public-private partnership between the Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Port Administration (MDOT MPA) and Ports America Chesapeake, will allow the Port to accommodate two ultra-large ships simultaneously by the end of this year.

    The Isle of Wight Conservative MP, Bob Seely, has received assurances from The Crown Estate (responsible for granting dredging licences) that marine aggregate dredging activity off Sandown Bay is not impacting on the coastline.
